HMI Engineering stands for Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning which is primarily an attempt to take control of the environmental conditions inside the space for work. It controls the ambient environmental environment and must be planned for and operated along with other data center components such as computing hardware, cabling, data storage, fire protection, physical security systems and power. HMI Engineering system design is a sub-discipline of mechanical engineering, based on the principles of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer. It may also be responsible for providing fresh outdoor air to dilute interior airborne contaminants.
