Restful API is an application program interface (API) that uses HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) requests to GET, PUT, POST and DELETE data. Restful APIs were designed to take advantages of existing protocol. It conforms to the representational state transfer or REST model. Restful APIs are sometimes easier for developers to use because they have a familiar syntax and set of protocols. One of the key advantages of Restful APIs is that they provide a great deal of flexibility. Data is not tied to resources or methods, so REST can handle multiple types of calls, return different data formats and even change structurally with the correct implementation of hypermedia.
